Sensative

A person able to perceive the presence of spirits; (noun)

Pronounciation:

Etymology: an archaic form of sensitive;   from Medieval Latin sensitivus.

Sensative is one of the three designations used for a person with spirit awareness. It is the least rare of the three, but still uncommon.

Sensatives can sense the presence spirits in their vicinity, though they usually cannot see or hear them. When a spirit is agitated the Sensative is more likely to become aware of them. Some Sensatives are also able to sense the presence of magic in general, be it that of a spell or of a magical being.

Sensatives are uncommon, and many of them are unaware of their ability. Their awareness can often manifest in the sense that something is there, someone is watching, that prickle that raises the hairs on the back of your neck. All these sensations are common among all people, therefore, unless the Sensitive is made aware of their abilities and learns to connect such situations with the presence of spirits or magic, they will generally remain ignorant of such a meaning.
