Mabyn is the only non-magical human among the Magiontology Society Society agents. The Pryce family is English, but Mabyn was born and raised in Wales, from which her mother's family hails. Aside from Idris, she is the most experienced of the agents, and also brings unique knowledge thanks to her upbringing. Mabyn's father, Ross Pryce, come from a long line of witch and monster hunters and practices the profession himself. Her mother, Mary Jones-Pryce, is a cryptozoologist and joined Ross on his expeditions. As a child, Mabyn was not fully convinced of the existence of witches and monsters, and not at all convinced in the need to hunt them, which caused constant friction with her father.
When she was 15 Mabyn’s world changed: her parents were apparently successful in finding magions and, their activities identified as a threat, two Fae phantom visited their home to warn them off. The warning did not achieve its goal of stopping the parents' pursuits, but it did succeed in convincing Mabyn that magical life existed and in recruiting her assistance. She essentially became an informant, helping to steer her parents off course. Three years later, through her Fae phantom friends, Mabyn met a Fae draco visitor to our world. The two clicked immediately and spent the better part of two days together. Two months after he left, Mabyn realized that she was pregnant with a half-fae child. It quickly became clear that staying at her parents' house was not an option. She left, and her Fae phantom friends introduced her to Idris, who agreed to help.
Mabyn ended up staying with Idris, and quickly became fully involved in the preservation of magions. Her upbringing gave her a unique perspective on prevention of magion exposure, and she proved foresight and initiative again and again. Many magions admit that even if her half-fae son, Griffin, was the only reason they were willing to give Mabyn a chance, it was her personality and passion that made them stay. Without intention, Mabyn became a central figure in the magical community. She was the first non-magical human to sign the Magion Protection Accords (inaugurated 1983), and become one of the guardians.
When the idea of the Magiontology Society began to form, Mabyn was asked to headline all communication with associates as Head of Operations, and she happily accepted. The addition of the Geist twins and solidification of the agent position did not affect her role much. She is very good at organizing fieldwork (something she begrudgingly admits she picked up from her parents), and often takes the lead on missions.
Mabyn is known in some human circles as an investigator of the paranormal or preternatural. She created a pseudo-agency in her mid 20s, almost accidentally, when she met humans during a mission, and found it useful afterwards for collecting evidence and information from humans who encounter magions.
