Crepertili
Pronounciation:
Etymology: from Latin creper, meaning 'dusky' or 'dark'; it can also mean 'uncertain' or 'obscure'.
Crepertili (plural form of crepertilio), commonly called Dusk-dwellers, is a small subgroup of Mixturidae magions. Dusk-dwellers are bipedal and highly intelligent, which made many scholars believe that they belong in the Gnomidae group. However, the dusk-dwellers themselves prefer the mixturidae designation, claiming that the comparison to gnomidae made them uncomfortable. In addition, dusk-dwellers pointed out that the assumption that intelligence is a unique characteristic of gnomidae is problematic, even if it is statistically correct.
The term crepertilio comes from the Latin creper, meaning 'dusky' or 'dark'; it can also mean 'uncertain' or 'obscure'. This is the same origin as the English crepuscular, a term used for one that is active primarily during twilight, which fits well with crepertilio lifestyle. Crepertili are generally active during twilight and have nocturnal tendencies, partly because they have good night vision and because they feel more comfortable in the shadows.
It is thought that crepertili are related to non-magical monotremes because, like them, they are memals that lay eggs. The gestation period differs between different crepertili, but in all cases the majority of it is in utero. Similarly to humans and most gnomidae, crepertilio do not have a mating season and have their young when they choose to.
