Pilopila pernīcīdigitāta

Nimble-fingered furball

(spider fingers, spindly puff, dust bunnies)

X

1-2 cm tall (or diameter of furball form)

Omnivores

Household appliances, preferably mechanical of kind.

  • More commonly found in furball form; both for hiding and comfort in sleep and movement.

  • The eyes are the only part that remains the same in both forms.

  • Generally nocturnal.

  • Very curious and, when feeling safe, very friendly. The challenge is to make first contact.

  • Have preference for mechanical over digital appliances and are often found in vintage collectors’ shops and/or houses.

Most Pilopila pernīcīdigitāta live in human households nowadays, but without direct contact with humans. They stay hidden thanks to their small size (often smaller than mouses), near silent movement and the ability to change into small furry balls, easily confused with ‘dust bunnies’ (which does make them hate vacuum cleaners. They can climb out, but the experience is rather traumatic).

Pilopila pernīcīdigitāta have a cultural interest in technology and mechanics that is not fully explained, but many are tinkerers and mechanics. Their small stature allows them to enter many household machines and tinker away, sometimes causing unexpected clicks and other sounds. They generally are very good with machineries, and often fix or improve appliances as they tinker. Humans complaining that their VCR, refrigerator, or other appliances are making odd sounds, especially at night, especially if the appliance was off, and especially if it happens with several appliances at once, is good indication that they cohabit with Pilopila pernīcīdigitāta.
