Difficult to distinguish in the water due to their colouring. Look for the purple markings.
The electric charges of the oral arms is not life threatening for humans, but can be very painful.
Generally not aggressive, but very hard to capture. If trapping is necessary, the best chance is long-range netting.
Medūsa trānsspatiālis are medium size jellyfish with the ability to teleport short distances (approximately up to a 100 metres). They have pale blue coloration with dark purple markings on the bell and tentacles. Their oral arms are the same blue as the bell, and have no markings.
Medūsa trānsspatiālis have stinging cells concentrated at the ends of their oral arms that are used for hunting. Instead of the toxins common among jellyfish, Medūsa trānsspatiālis stinging cells (cnidocyte) emit semi-electric charges. The charges are strong enough to daze or kill small creatures, but produce only a stinging sensation in larger creatures. The tentacles have specialized glands that produce a combination of chemicals.
Medūsa trānsspatiālis teleportation is achieved by twisting the oral arms and tentacles together in a spiral motion. This brings the oral arms’ semi-electric charge into contact with the tentacles’ chemicals, which results in place transference. The exact procedure of the transference is unclear, but it seems that the medusa has control over the distance and direction.
